Roasted red cedar (Thuja plicata) comes from North America, particularly the Pacific Northwest, where it is known for its lightweight nature and warm, reddish-brown hues. The roasting process, or torrefaction, enhances its rich color, deepening it to a darker, more amber tone, while also improving stability and resistance to humidity changes. The grain is typically straight and uniform, with a fine, slightly oily texture that contributes to a smooth finish. Naturally aromatic, roasted red cedar is valued for both its aesthetics and durability.
